Create Your Own Quotes

Henry Ford. Warren Buffet. Abraham Lincoln. Michael J. Fox. Albert Einstein. Sun Tzu. Steve Jobs. Oprah Winfrey.

What do all these people have in common? All of them made a brilliant statement at some time, and their quotes have been repeated endlessly on LinkedIn. In fact, their quotes can currently be found on my LinkedIn news feed (and probably yours as well).

While the quotes may be brilliant in their simplicity, none of concepts are so complex that we couldn’t come up with them ourselves. Additionally, some of the quotes didn’t even come from the alleged authors – someone creating some quote simply put the famous person’s picture next to it so you’d repost it.

Actionable Idea: If you admire someone, great. It’s always nice to have someone that motivates you and whose accomplishments you aspire to achieve.

But create your OWN quotes. Think about the core beliefs, values, or goals that you have, and put them on paper. When their YOUR quotes, they are fundamentally part of you, and something that can be your compass throughout your career and life.

And enough with all the inspirational quotes, already!
